Type of Notifications

There are currently a few different ways you may configure notifications depending on which part of the system you are working with:

Notifications (New!)

From December 2024 Precursive introduced a new Notification system to standardize the method that Users control and receive notifications from the system.

Manage My Notification Subscriptions

Users can control their own notifications options from My Precursive.

Notifications currently supported are:

NOTE: As the new Notification system is rolled out throughout the product you will see more options appearing here. This will include notifications that are managed elsewhere and entirely new notifications.

Notification Email

 With this new system email notifications are sent in bulk and support a variety of events that are defined as “Notification Subscriptions”. Each notification email may include multiple notifications if they have all happened at around the same time.

Configure the default Notification Subscriptions for all users

Notifications allow an Organizational-wide Default to be defined that will be used by all Users until they configure their own Notification Subscription from My Precursive.

To configure your Organizations Default Notification Subscriptions:

1. Navigate to Salesforce Setup

2. Search for “Custom Settings” in the Quick Find

3. From “Custom Settings” find the setting “Precursive Notification Subscription”, select Manage

From the Custom Setting page you can choose Edit to override the “Default Organization Level Value”, you can also add new values to provide a default for specific Profiles or even specific Users.

Configure the Notification From Address

Notifications are sent in batches which may mean the email address notifications are sent from is different to the user who triggered the notification. To avoid this confusion it is recommended to configure “Notifications e-mail address”. Before setting up the “Notifications e-mail address” in Precursive you must create an Organization-Wide Address in Salesforce.

To configure the Notifications e-mail address:

1. Navigate to Precursive HQ > System Settings > General Settings

2. Select Edit and enter the Organization-Wide Address as the “Notifications e-mail address”

Outgoing Emails (Legacy)

Outgoing Emails is the system used for sending notifications in Precursive.

Participant Deleted Notification

There is a specific email notification enabled for when a Participant is removed from a Phase:

• Criteria: When a Participant is Deleted and the Resource has both “Email notifications” and “Email For Deleted Participant” enabled,

• Email Template: Setup > Classic Email Templates > “Precursive Emails (Winter'23)” Folder > “Deleted Participant (Winter’23)”

Approval Email Alerts (Timesheet, Expenses, Holiday Request)

Approval notifications are sent using the standard Salesforce Email Alert functionality within the Approval Process. Learn more about Approvals here.

Email Templates for Approval Email Alerts can be found: Setup > Classic Email Templates > “Precursive Emails (Winter'23)” Folder > “Deleted Participant (Winter’23)”

Timesheet Reminders

Email Reminders to help you automate the process of reminding your team to submit timesheets and approve unapproved items. Learn more about Timesheet Reminders here.

Email Templates for Timesheet Reminders can be found: Setup > Classic Email Templates > “Precursive Emails (Winter'23)” Folder > “Deleted Participant (Winter’23)”

Configure Outgoing Emails

Email Templates for Approval notifications and Timesheet Reminders must first be installed. Following installation a process is required to set up email links for these email templates.

Install Notification Email Templates

Before Outgoing Emails can be used the Email Templates must be installed. 

To install Outgoing Email Email Templates:

1. Navigate to Precursive HQ > Timesheet Settings > Find the “Install Notification Email Templates” Tile

2. Select “Install”

This process will install new “Classic Email Templates” in the “Precursive Emails (Winter'23)” Folder. You can find these here:  Setup > Classic Email Templates > “Precursive Emails (Winter'23)” Folder > “Deleted Participant (Winter’23)”

Setup Email Links

Email Templates used by “Outgoing Emails” and “Email Alerts” require a manual process to be run to ensure that links contained in the email are correct for your Salesforce instance domain. If this process has been missed then your email notifications will contain dead links.

To ensure Email Links are correct:

1. Navigate to Precursive HQ, Email Links tab and click Run Now.

This process will automatically set up all the links in the standard Precursive email templates.
