Choose a user to receive another user’s approval requests over a predefined time period. Delegated approvers are helpful when the original approver can’t respond to approvals, such as during a vacation. 

Setting your Delegate Approver

• Select your Profile picture (top right) and then Settings
• Select Approver Settings and search for your Delegated Approver
• From here you can also set when to "Receive Approval Request Emails." 
  • Recommended setting is "If I am an approver to delegated approver."

NOTE: Delegate Approvers will not see approval items appear in the Approval component on My Precursive or the Approval Request tab of Salesforce.​​​

Approving as a Delegate

Only users directly assigned as approvers can see the records in the My Approvals component on My Precursive. To view these records, the following workaround can be used:

Receive Approval Request Emails for Delegated Approvers:

• Go to the delegated approver User detail page and click on Edit.
• Change the "Receive Approval Request Emails" pick list to "If I am an approver or delegated approver".
• This will allow the delegated approver to get an email sent whenever there is a record in the approval process for which he is the delegated approver.

​Create a list view or report for the records in the approval process:

• Create a Timesheet Report:
  • Use Filters: 
    • Show me: "All timesheets
    • Date: "Due Date", Range: "All time"
    • Add filter for "Status" equals "Submitted"
  • Add columns
    • Timesheet: Timesheet Id, Status, Approver, Start Date, End Date, Planned Hours, Actual Hours
• Create a Timesheet Line Item Report:
  • Using Report Type: Timesheets with Timesheet Line Items and Phase
  • Use Filters: 
    • Show me: "All timesheets
    • Date: "Due Date", Range: "All time"
    • Add filter for "Status" (make sure you select the Timesheet Line Item Status) equals "Submitted"
  • Add columns
    • Timesheet: Timesheet Id, Timesheet Line Item: Id, Phase: Phase Name, Status, Approver, Resource Name, Participant Role, Planned Hours, Actual Hours
• Now the delegate approver can see a list of records to approve.
• when the delegated approver drills-in to each record they will have the option to Approved or Reject.

Configuring Delegate Approvers

Temporary Delegate Approvers

Delegate Approvers is enabled by default on the standard Precursive Approval Processes for Timesheet, Timesheet Line, Holiday Request, and Expense. Follow these steps to ensure your Approval Processes are properly configured to support Delete Approval.

1. From Setup navigate to Approval Processes
2. Change "Manage Approval Processes For" picklist to one of Timesheet, Timesheet Line, Holiday Request, and Expense
3. Select the Active Approval Process.
   1. Select Edit by each Approval Step in the Approval Steps list.
   2. For each Approval Step choose Next, then Next again until you reach "Step 3. Select Assigned Approver"
   3. Ensure  the checkbox "The approver's delegate may also approve this request" is checked  
   4. Then select Save
4. Remember to do this for each Approval Step, and each Active Approval Process.

Multiple Approvers

In some instances you may require a single person or group to act as Delegate Approvers for all users. This can be achieved through configuring the Approval Process. In the Approval Process add multiple approvers which can then be defined they can be assigned as either unanimous approval or based upon first response.
